Print file list from Command Window

Let's say you need a list of all the files in a folder. What would you do? A few files, may be you would note them down yourself manually. But what if you had 100 files, or even 1000?

So here's the tip. This also lists the files in an alphabetical order. Cherry on top?!

  1. See my other post on how to open a command window in the folder
  2. Now type the this without the quotes "dir /b /on >print.txt". Mind the forward slash and spaces.
  3. Now go to your folder, you will see a text file names "print.txt".
  4. Open it and it has a list of all the files in the folder, arranged neatly alphabetically.

Hope this helps you make your list of files next time.
